Father’s Day

Today is a day to celebrate the fathers in our lives, and I understand it might not be an easy day for you. I hope Josh is a good father figure in your life, treating you with love and teaching you to be kind and good men. I hope he is good to your mom and your little brother as well.

Your dad loves you and has always loved you. His struggles were not because he didn’t love you, and I hope someday you can see him for more than his past. He misses you every day. We all do. Your pictures hang on our walls, and your words are still on our Thankful Chalkboard from Thanksgiving 2019. You are here with us in spirit, even when you are not physically present. The memories of our time together, the laughter and fun, remain with us. No amount of time or separation will ever change that.

I know it may be hard for you to believe me, but your dad is a good man. People who take the time to really know him believe that as well. He made some really big mistakes that impacted your lives significantly, and I understand the anger that brings. I’m sorry for all of this, and I know he is too. He is now living his life to help those around him so that others are not alone in their struggles. Someday, I would love to tell you all about what he does now, what he has accomplished, and who he has become.

The point of this letter is to let you know that he is a good dad. Tara, Morgan, Alex, and Tanner love him, but their love will never be the same as the love between you and your dad. He is a good man, and I hope someday you can see that in him, just as my children, our nieces and nephews, our families, and our friends have seen. Someday you will find healing, and when you are ready, we will be here for you. He loves you. I love you. We miss you.

Love,
Jen
